Copper Serpent on a Pole

Numbers / Bamidbar 21:6And G-d seraphs snakes upon the nation, and they bit the nation, and a large portion of Israel died.
21:7And the nation came to Mosha and said “We sinned, because we spoke against G-d and against you.  Pray to G-d so that he will remove the snake.”  And Mosha prayed on behalf of the nation.
21:8And G-d said to Moshe:  “Make a seraph, and put it on a pole, and everyone who was bit and sees it will live.”
21:9And Moshe made a snake out of copper, and put it on a pole, and if a person was bitten and looked at the copper snake that person lived.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pretzel Rod
  • Apricot fruit leather
  • 2 black sesame seeds

Tools:

  • Knife or scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut fruit leather in the shape of a snake, as shown. Ideally, the “snake” will be about 6.5″ long. (Though the sesame seed eyes are attached in the photo, they may fall off if attached before the final step.)

2. Wrap around pretzel rod “pole.” Press black sesame seed “eyes” in place if you have not yet done so or if they fell off (they will stick to the fruit leather).
