My name is Talya Bernstein Galaganov. I live in Texas with my husband and three children. I am an attorney, and am very lucky to work for a nonprofit at a job I love.
When my children were little, I taught the children’s service. Snack time seemed such a loss… until one week I decided to try to make the snack PART of the lesson time. It was Parashat Vayeyshev, in which Joseph is given a striped coat by his father. I took three apples of similar sizes, cut them, mixed and matched, and voila’: The Parsha Nosh was born!
I was surprised how enthusiastic the children were. And this way, the children, during snack, continued to discuss the Torah portion!
In the years that followed, I went back and forth, sometimes relying on my Shabbos Stash, and sometimes trying to keep it as healthy as possible. It is very funny and makes me feel good to see today’s children excitedly eating carrots and seaweed.
So now, finally, I can share my ideas with others. I really hope this web site gives you ideas and inspiration for another way to learn, teach, and enjoy the Torah.
