Pharaoh with Teddy Bear

Genesis / Bereishit 41:1And after two years had passed, Pharaoh dreamt that he was standing at the Nile…
41:2-4And he saw seven beautiful, fat, healthy cows emerge from the nile…followed by seven ugly, skinny cows… who then ate the healthy cows…And Pharaoh awoke.
41:5-7And [Pharaoh] slept, and had another dream, in which a single stalk of grain, on which were seven beautiful, healthy heads of grain … after which another stalk grew, on which were seven thin heads of grain.  And the seven thin heads swallowed the seven healthy heads… And Pharaoh awoke.

Ingredients as Shown:

  • Fruit leather, 2 colors (I used orange and green) (can be shared, depending on size)
  • 1 Gingerbread man
  • 1 small bear shaped cookie
  • 1 raisin

Tools:

  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Determine how big a piece of fruit leather you will need for your headdress. Cut thin strips from the green fruit leather. Press onto that portion of the orange fruit leather.

2. Trim the edges and cut out the headdress.

3. Drape headdress over forehead of gingerbread man, fold over the back (pressing down the edges), and fold the corners down, as shown.

4. Cut a very thin sliver of raisin. Curve to look like closed eyes, and place on gingerbread man. (If you have particular about this, you may want to use tweezers. Mine kept sticking to my finger and the tweezers, and I finally had to dip the tweezers in powdered sugar to get the raisin to release from the tweezers).

5. Cut out a piece of the green fruit leather of appropriate size to make a blanket. Cover Pharaoh loosely.

6. Tuck in his teddy bears… he’s scared from all the nightmares! Who can explain them?
