| Exodus / Shmot 33:18 | And [Moses / Moshe] said: Please show me your honor! | וַיֹּאמַר הַרְאֵנִי נָא אֶת־כְּבֹדֶךָ׃ |
| 33:19 | And He said: I will pass the entirety of my goodness before you, and state my name before you, and be kind to those to whom I will be kind, and be merciful to whom I will show mercy. | וַיֹּאמֶר אֲנִי אַעֲבִיר כׇּל־טוּבִי עַל־פָּנֶיךָ וְקָרָאתִי בְשֵׁם ה’ לְפָנֶיךָ וְחַנֹּתִי אֶת־אֲשֶׁר אָחֹן וְרִחַמְתִּי אֶת־אֲשֶׁר אֲרַחֵם׃ |
| 33:20 | But I tell you: you will not be able to see my countenance, as no one can see me and live. | וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא תוּכַל לִרְאֹת אֶת־פָּנָי כִּי לֹא־יִרְאַנִי הָאָדָם וָחָי׃ |
| 33:21 | Then G-d said: go to this rock nearby. | וַיֹּאמֶר ה’ הִנֵּה מָקוֹם אִתִּי וְנִצַּבְתָּ עַל־הַצּוּר׃ |
| 33:22 | And I will pass my goodness while you are in the crevice of the rock. I will cover you with my palm until I have passed, | וְהָיָה בַּעֲבֹר כְּבֹדִי וְשַׂמְתִּיךָ בְּנִקְרַת הַצּוּר וְשַׂכֹּתִי כַפִּי עָלֶיךָ עַד־עׇבְרִי׃ |
| 33:23 | And remove it when I have passed, so that you can see my back, but you will not see my face. | וַהֲסִרֹתִי אֶת־כַּפִּי וְרָאִיתָ אֶת־אֲחֹרָי וּפָנַי לֹא יֵרָאוּ׃ |
Ingredients as shown:
- Celery
- Green olive
- 2 black sesame seeds
- Hummus
- 4 crackers
Tools:
- Knife
Instructions: (you may want to reverse the instructions if you want the rock to be there BEFORE Moshe Rabbeinu, for narrative purposes).
- Put olive near celery. Cut a piece of celery as appropriate to be the body of Moshe Rabeinu. If you can cut it from the top to make natural “arms,” all the better.
- Cut the center as shown to make the “neck” the right size.
3. Cut a slit in the olive to make a mouth. Add 2 sesame seeds to make “eyes.”
4. Dip one edge of one cracker into hummus. Prop them up a’la house of cards, placing on one side of Moshe Rabbeinu. Repeat, placing second hill on other side.
