Ingredients as Shown:
- 1 Cucumber
- 12 baby carrots
- 24 black sesame seeds
- Nori
Tools:
- Small bowl with water
- Sharp knife
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Decide how you want the carrot people seated around the table. Cut cucumber to the right legnth, then cut in half to form a table, and cut the rounded part just enough to make it stay steady.
2. Cut a tiny sliver from the bottom of each carrot, then cut again to make a base for the carrot to stand. The second cut from each carrot will form a bowl. Set around the table. Place remaining carrots on the bowl of water until they are used.
3. To form Joseph, cut a large piece of seaweed to form Joseph’s Egyptian-style headdress. Wet the seaweed either by dipping in the water or dipping finger in the water and running along seaweed. Put over the top of the “Joseph” carrot, then fold sides to form a headdress.
4. Cut a small slice of seaweed to form Joseph’s skirt. Wet as instructed above, wrap around Joseph to make Egyptian-style skirt. Add black sesame seed eyes; they will stick to the moisture.
5. Cut longer pieces of seaweed for the brothers’ caftans. Wet and wrap as shown. You can leave the kaftan loose or tighten as I did. Add eyes.
6. Place around table.
