| Exodus/Shmot 3:1 | Moses was a shepherd… | ׃ |
| 3:2 | He saw a messenger of G-d appear from within fire that came from a bush. And he saw that the flame was not consuming the bush.
| 3:3 | And Moses said to himself: “Why isn’t the bush burning? I need to check.” |
| 3:4 | And G-d saw that Moses had turned to look, and G-d said “Moses, Moses!” And Moses said “Here I am.”
Ingredients as shown:
- 1 small pear (alternatively: 1 pealed kiwi half, or a scoop if ice cream)
- 2 large strawberries
- 1.5 small tangerines or 1 orange
- (optional: 1/2 banana) (not shown)
Tools:
- Sharp knife (cutting can be done ahead of time)
- Toothpicks
Instructions:
- If using a pear, consider whether it is very hard or soft. I had a hard pear, and realized I would not be able to press in toothpicks unless I had the bottom still attached to hold. If using a soft pear such that you could press a toothpick in without too much resistance, cut in half crosswise and use half a pear for each child.
- If using tangerines, peal and separate segments. If using oranges, cut each segment in half crosswise. Cut strawberries so that the base of each strawberry piece is approximately the diameter of the tangerine or orange piece. Cut banana pieces accordingly (you can always do this a few at a time, seeing how many you need (that’s what I did).

3. Press toothpicks into the “bush” base. Add strawberries, oranges/tangerines, and bananas to create “flames.” (note: if using ice cream, which is very soft, put fruit on toothpicks, and then press entire thing into the ice cream).

Et voila’!
