Date Eagle

Exodus / Shmot 19:4You saw what I did to Egypt. And I carried you on the wings of Eagles, and brought you to me.

Ingredients:

  • 5 dates, fresh or dried
  • 1 golden raisin
  • 2 black sesame seeds
  • Powdered sugar (tiny bit)
  • 1 pretzel stick

Instructions:

  1. Pick up one of the dates. Choose the end with the bigger hole. Insert one end of the raisin into the hole. Squeeze the raisin and date together to form the shape of an eagle head.

2. Take a tiny bit of powdered sugar, add as little water as possible. Like a drop. Put a tiny bit of the sugar glue on one side of the head, and add a black sesame seed. Wait to dry (or just do one side), repeat on other side.

3. Take one date, separate to form a wing. Mirror on other side, leaving a bit of space for the body (this is one very dry date on each side; it just broke apart when I opened it).

4. Add a smaller amount of “wing” to complete the wings (my dates broke off into 3 segments when opened; I just used all 3 for the larger part, and 2 for the smaller part).

5. Press the “head” onto a segment of date. Then press into the center of the “wings.”

6. Break the pretzel in half, add to create legs.
