Leviticus 11:9 | Of all that which is in the water, whether in the ocean or in the rivers, you may eat [only] those that have fins and scales.
11:10 | And all that which does not have fins and scales, whether in the oceans or the rivers, | וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר אֵין־לוֹ סְנַפִּיר וְקַשְׂקֶשֶׂת בַּיַּמִּים וּבַנְּחָלִים מִכֹּל שֶׁרֶץ הַמַּיִם וּמִכֹּל נֶפֶשׁ הַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר בַּמָּיִם שֶׁקֶץ הֵם לָכֶם׃ |
11:11 | And they will be repulsive to you, you will not eat their meat, and you fill find their carcasses repulsive. |
11:12 | Every water creature that does not have both fins and scales will be repulsive to you.
- 1 roll of fruit leather (as shown, enough for 4 snacks)
- 1 raisin (enough for several snacks) (optional)
Tools:
- Scissors
- Metal spoon (optional, for simpler version only)
Instructions:
- Cut fruit leather in quarters.
2. Take one of the quarters, cut out the rough shape of a fish.
3. Cut a slit for the mouth (this is just a slit, then I pulled the mouth open), and poke a hole for the eye if not using a raisin.
4. VARIATION 1: Take a spoon, make a scale pattern on the fish. Take one of the parts you cut out of the fruit leather, press it into the main body to make a fin, cut a sliver of raisin, and top with a raisin eye!
4. Variation 2: Set aside one of the parts you cut out of the fruit leather to make a fin. Take the other trimmings, cut into bric-a-brac shapes to make strips of “scales.” Arrange on fish body, cut a sliver of raisin, top with raisin eye.
