Deuteronomy 8:7	For G-d your G-d will bring you to a good land.  A land of streams, springs, and fountains, both in the valleys and in the hills.	כִּי ה’ אֱל-יךָ מְבִיאֲךָ אֶל־אֶרֶץ טוֹבָה אֶרֶץ נַחֲלֵי מָיִם עֲיָנֹת וּתְהֹמֹת יֹצְאִים בַּבִּקְעָה וּבָהָר׃
8:8	A land of wheat and barley, vine, fig, and pomegranate, a land of olives, oil and honey (dates).	אֶרֶץ חִטָּה וּשְׂעֹרָה וְגֶפֶן וּתְאֵנָה וְרִמּוֹן אֶרֶץ־זֵית שֶׁמֶן וּדְבָשׁ׃

Make some or all!

Barley:

 Ingredients:

• 1 large pretzel stick
• Approximately 6 greenish-grain colored jelly beans

1.  Cut all jelly beans in half lengthwise.  Press one jelly bean onto the uppermost tip, sticking up.  Working your way down, press pairs of jelly beans to form a grain pattern.

Wheat:

Ingredients:

• 1 large pretzel stick
• Approximately 10 grain colored jelly beans

1. Cut all jelly beans in half lengthwise.  Press one jelly bean onto the uppermost tip, sticking up.  Working your way down, press pairs of jelly beans to form a grain pattern.
2. Starting again at the top, press jelly beans between pairs to cover centers, as shown.

Fig branch:

Ingredients:

• 1 large pretzel stick
• 5 large marshmallows
• Powdered sugar
• Purple and green colored sugar

Tools:  wax paper to work on, scissors, paint brush, 2 small bowls

Make leaves:  For each leaf:  cut the two flat ends off of a marshmallow and cut the remaining portion of the marshmallow in three pieces crosswise.  Press onto pretzel stick to form a leaf.  Sprinkle with green colored sugar.

Make figs:

1. Make sugar glue:  starting with 1 t. of water in a small bowl, add sugar to make a thin glue. 
2. To make each fig:  Holding one edge of a marshmallow between two fingers, cut the rest of the sharp edges of the marshmallow to make a somewhat fig-shaped marshmallow. 
3. Cut the edge by which the fig was held in half to allow marshmallow “stem” to be wrapped around large pretzel stick.  Do so, pressing sticky inner edges of marshmallow onto pretzel stick.  Paint uncut edges with thin sugar glue.  Sprinkle figs all over with purple colored sugar. 

Dates on a branch:

Ingredients:

• 1 large pretzel stick
• Green sour straws
• Brown (date-colored) jelly beans
• Powdered sugar.

Tools:

• Scissors, a small bowl, and a spoon.

Olives on a branch:

• Green jelly beans to make leaves
• olive-colored jelly beans to make olives
• 1 mini pretzel stick

Cut green jelly beans in half lengthwise.  Press onto mini pretzel stick to form leaves.  Cut tip off of olive-colored jelly beans at a slight angle.  Press onto mini pretzel stick.
