Ki Tisa / כִּי תִשָּׂא : SHMOT (EXODUS) Exodus 30:11-34:35 (link to the text on Sepharia)
Exodus 24:12 | And G-d said to Moses: come up to me towards the mountain. And be there. And I will give you the stone tablets and the law and the commandments which I wrote in order to guide you.
24:13 | And Moses rose, along with Joshua his servant, and Moses went up the mounain of G-d |
15 | And Moses went up the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. |
16 | And G-d’s honor dwelled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. And [G-d] called to Moses on the seventh day from within the cloud.
17 | And to the children of Israel, G-d’s honor looked like fire eating the top of the mounain. |
18 | And Moses entered the cloud, and went up the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights.
Exodus 25:1 | And G-d spoke to Moses: |
Exodus 31:18: | And when G-d finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of testimony; tablets of stone, written with the finger of G-d.
Exodus 32:1 | And the nation believed that Moses was delayed in coming down from the mountain. And they congregated around Aaron and said: get up. Make us a god to go before us, because we do not know what happened to the man, Moses.
Exodus 32:7: | And G-d said to Moses: go down, because your nation, which you brought out of Egypt, has sinned.
Exodus 32:15: | And Moses turned and went down from the mountain holding in his arms the two tablets of testimony, which were carved on both sides.
Exodus 32:16: | And the tablets were the work of G-d. And the writing was the writing of G-d, who had carved the tablets.
Exodus 32:19: | And it was when he came close to the camp, and saw the calf and the celebration, that Moses became incensed, and cast out from his hands the tablets, and broke them at the foot of the mountain.
Exodus 34:1: | And G-d said to Moses: carve for yourself two stone tablets like the first. And write on them the things that were written on the first tablets, which you broke.
Exodus 34:4: | And he carved two stone tablets like the first, and Moses awoke in the morning, and climbed up Mount Sinai, as G-d had commanded him to do.
Ingredients:
- 1 gingerbread man
- 1-2 large marshmallows (depending on the size of your gingerbread man
- 1 raisin
- Powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
Tools:
- Scissor
Instructions: (note: gingerbread men sizes vary. Instructions are for the gingerbread man I used. Only one marshmallow was needed).
Make sure to look at https://parshanosher.com/about-marshmallows-and-cutting-them/ before beginning.
- Cut a slice of marshmallow of the right size for your gingerbread man to make a beard. For the gingerbread man I used, I cut a thin slice from one of the flat ends of the marshmallow, and cut that in half. Cut a slit to form a mouth, and stick onto the gingerbread man.
- Take the other half of the beard slice and put at the top to form hair.
- Cut some of the remaining marshmallow to form tablets, press to attach.
- Take the raisin. Cut in half lengthwise. Press one half to the “hair” to form a kippa. Cut small pieces from the other half for eyes, press to gingerbread man using the sticky inner side.
- Cut whatever is let from your marshmallow (or start a new one) into four pieces. Press to front and back of feet so that Moses stands!
