Leviticus 8:6 | And Moshe brought Aharon and his sons closer, and washed them with water. |
8:7 | And [Moshe] dressed [Aharon] the tunic, and belted him with the sash, and put on that the cloak, and placed upon him the Eiphod (apron), and secured the cloak with the decorated band.
8:8 | And [Moshe] placed upon [Aharon] the Choshen [breastplate] containing the Urim and Tumim. |

8:30 | And Moshe took from the anointing oil, and from the blood that was on the alter, and sprinkled them on Aharon and on his sons with him, and he [thus] consecrated Aharon and his clothes and his sons with him[, for the purpose of serving as priests].
8:36 | And Aharon and his sons did all of the things that G-d, through Moshe, commanded them to do.
I realized some things about this week’s snack after it was too late to start over… so the instructions are as shown, but pay attention to the italicized notes.
Ingredients as shown:
- 3 small gingerbread cookies (I used the Pepperidge Farm “Gingerman” cookies; one suggested serving size is 4 cookies,)
- 3 large marshamallows or 1 large marshmallow and a small amount of marshmallow fluff or just some marshmallow fluff.
- Powdered sugar or potato or corn starch, for cutting (see https://parshanosher.com/about-marshmallows-and-cutting-them/)
- 1 piece of square cereal or some apricot fruit leather or a piece of dried apricot
- Fruit leather (preferably two different colors, can be shared) I only had one type of fruit leather at home, so used the same one for everything
- 1 dried apricot or some apricot fruit leather
- A bit of something red (e.g. red fruit leather or a craisin; can be the same fruit leather as above)
- 2 sesame seeds
Tools:
- Scissors
- Tweezers (optional)
Instructions (Note: you can skip layers; I included them so the kids (and I) remember that each layer matters):
- Put “tunic” on Aharon and his sons: if using marshmallows, cut each marshmallow so that you get the widest part of the marshmallow, stretch as much as possible to form the tunic. Alternatively, spread marshmallow fluff thinly to create a tunic on each of Aharon and his sons.
2. Cut a thin strip of fruit leather (any color), wrap around the “Tunic.”
3. (I forgot this part) Cut a piece of fruit leather to form a coat on Aharon ONLY.
4. For Aharon only: Cut another, different-colored piece of fruit leather to form the Eiphod. Put on tunic (or on coat, if you remembered it).
5. For Aharon only: Put the square cereal to form the Choshen, or cut an apricot or contrasting fruit leather in a square instead.
6. Cut the marshmallow scraps to form a more regal hat for Aharon, and simpler ones for the sons.
7. Cut a piece of apricot or apricot fruit leather to form the gold headband for Aharon only.
8. Add a small strip of whatever red thing you are using (I only had one type of fruit leather at home, so used the same one for everything) as a mouth.
9. Add black sesame seeds for eyes.
We’re ready!!!!!!!!!
