Genesis 32:25 | And Ya’akov was left alone. And a man struggled with him until dawn. |
32:26 | And [the man] saw he cannot overcome [Ya’akov]; and [the man] touched [Ya’akov’s] hip joint and dislocated it while wrestling with [Ya’akov].
32:27 | And [the man] said: “release me, because dawn is coming.” And [Ya’akov] said “I will not release you unless you bless me.”
32:28 | And [the man] asked “What is your name,” and [Ya’akov] answered “Ya’akov.” |
32:29 | And [the man] said, “You will no longer be called Ya’akov, but rather Yisrael, because you struggled with G-d and with men, and prevailed.
32:30 | And Ya’akov said “Please tell me your name,” and [the man] said “Why do you ask my name?” and blessed him [Ya’akov/Yisrael] there.
