Embalmed Joseph in a Coffin

Bereishit / Genesis 50:24	And Joseph said to his brothers:  I am dying.  But G-d will give you orders, and bring you up from this land to the land that was promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob under oath.	וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל־אֶחָ֔יו אָנֹכִ֖י מֵ֑ת וֵֽאלֹהִ֞ים פָּקֹ֧ד יִפְקֹ֣ד אֶתְכֶ֗ם וְהֶעֱלָ֤ה אֶתְכֶם֙ מִן־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את אֶל־הָאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּ֛ע לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃
50:25	And Joseph said:  “When G-d sends you orders, bring my bones out of here,” and made the children if Israel promise so, under oath,	וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע יוֹסֵ֔ף אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר פָּקֹ֨ד יִפְקֹ֤ד אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם וְהַעֲלִתֶ֥ם אֶת־עַצְמֹתַ֖י מִזֶּֽה׃
50:26	Joseph died at the age of one hundred and ten years; and he was embalmed and placed in a coffin in Egypt.	וַיָּ֣מׇת יוֹסֵ֔ף בֶּן־מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר שָׁנִ֑ים וַיַּחַנְט֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ וַיִּ֥ישֶׂם בָּאָר֖וֹן בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃

Ingredients as Shown:

• 2 full graham cracker sheets
• 3 mini marshmallows
• Powdered Sugar

Tools:

• Small Bowl
• Spoon
• Serrated knife
• Scissors

Instructions:

1. In the bowl, put a couple of tablespoons of the powdered sugar. Add water, a drop or two at a time, mixing well, to make as thick a paste as possible.
2. Snap the first graham cracker sheet into its 4 quarters. Snap the second sheet into half, and only ONE into quarters. Final cuts shown here:

3. Lay the first one on your work surface. Take another quarter, and spread the sugar paste on the edge of one of the flat sides. Press to first cracker. It will stay in place without support if your paste is thick. Repeat with second cracker.

4. Taking the serrated knife, cut two of the remaining quarters of a size to cover the top and bottom of the “coffin,” sawing gently so the cracker does not break (if it breaks, it is ok). Taking one at a time, spread glue on three of the edges of the flat side, and attach to top and bottom of the “coffin.”

5. If desired, take the remaining half-sheet, determine the size needed to make a cover, and cut gently with a sawing motion.

6. TO MAKE YOSEF: Cut the very tip of the flat edge of one of the marshmallows with your scissors. Snip the same edge in thirds. Spread out the thirds.

7. Press the flat side of a second marshmallow on to the center third of the first marshmallow. You may need to snip the bottom edge of that marshmallow to get them to stick, or you can use some of the remaining sugar paste.

8. Snip one flat edge of the remaining marshmallow in two to form legs. Snip off the opposite flat edge, or use sugar paste, to attach to the torso.

10. Put Yosef in his coffin. Cover, if desired.
