Marshmallow He-Goat

Vayikra / Leviticus 16:2	G-d said to Moses: Tell your brother Aharon…	יֹּאמֶר ה’ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה דַּבֵּר אֶל־אַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ …׃
16:5	..from the Israelite community [funds], he shall [purchase] two male goats, as sin offerings.	וּמֵאֵת עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יִקַּח שְׁנֵי־שְׂעִירֵי עִזִּים לְחַטָּאת…׃
16:8	Aaron shall draw lots to decide which goat shall be for G-d, and which to Azazel.	וְנָתַן אַהֲרֹן עַל־שְׁנֵי הַשְּׂעִירִם גֹּרָלוֹת גּוֹרָל אֶחָד לַיהֹוָה וְגוֹרָל אֶחָד לַעֲזָאזֵל׃
16:9	The goat designated for G-d shall be sacrificed as a sin offering.	וְהִקְרִיב אַהֲרֹן אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר אֲשֶׁר עָלָה עָלָיו הַגּוֹרָל לַיהֹוָה וְעָשָׂהוּ חַטָּאת׃
16:10	While the one designated for Azazel shall be sent alive before G-d into the wilderness of Azazel, to atone for the sins of the people.	וְהַשָּׂעִיר אֲשֶׁר עָלָה עָלָיו הַגּוֹרָל לַעֲזָאזֵל יׇעֳמַד־חַי לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה לְכַפֵּר עָלָיו לְשַׁלַּח אֹתוֹ לַעֲזָאזֵל הַמִּדְבָּרָה׃

Ingredients as Shown:

• 1 large marshmallow
• Powdered sugar
• Several pretzel sticks
• 3 sunflower seeds
• 2 black sesame seeds, fennel, or caraway seeds

Tools:

• 1 pair of scissors

1. Dip scissors into powdered sugar, as shown here. Cut a marshmallow as shown:

2. Put the larger piece cut side up on your work surface. Taking the smaller piece, cut from the bottom up on both sides to form ears.

3. Dip the sharper point of your scissors in powdered sugar. Poke two holes at the top. Press one sunflower seed to the sticky back to form a “beard,” and insert seeds into the two holes to form “horns.” Set down, cut side up.

4. Dipping your scissors in powdered sugar between each poke, poke four holes in the cut side of the large marshmallow to attach legs, and one in the front of the smaller side for the neck.

4. Snap pretzels to form legs and a neck, poke in the holes.

5. Poke a hole in the back of the “head” and attach to “body.”

6. Dampen the front of the “head” where you want to put eyes, and attach sesame seed eyes. They should stick to the damp surface.
