| Exodus / Shmot 19:1 | On the third month after the children of Israel left Egypt… they came to the Sinai desert.
| 19:2 | …and Israel set up camp there, in front of the mountain, | …
| * * * | ||
| 19:16 | And it was, that on the third day, when dawn came, there was thunder and lightning, and a heavy cloud was on the mountain… a very strong blast (that sounded like a) horn; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
| 19:17 | … the people … took their places at the foot of the mountain. | …
| 19:18 | And Mount Sinai was all covered in smoke, as G-d had come down to it in fire. And His smoke rose like the smoke of a kiln, and the mountain shook.
| 19:19 | When Moshe spoke, G-d answered in thunder. | …
Ingredients as Shown:
- Ice Cream Waffle Bowl
- Powdered Sugar
- Green colored sugar (alt: green sprinkles or spirulina)
- Marshmallows
- 1 Dried mango slice (alt: dried apricots)
- Graham crackers
- Colored sprinkles
Instructions:
- Put a few tablespoons of powdered sugar in a bowl. Add just enough water to make it thick and paintable. Mix well, and paint around the waffle bowl. Sprinkle on green colored sugar.

2. Dip scissors into more powdered sugar (see https://parshanosher.com/about-marshmallows-and-cutting-them/). Cut marshmallows into quarters, then stick on top of the waffle bowl. Continue adding marshmallows until you are satisfied.

3. Cut mango or apricots into v-shapes (you will be tempted to make them longer, but they probably won’t stand up). Tuck in between clouds.

4. Crush graham crackers, spread around the area to make “sand.”

5. Add colored sprinkles around to make desert flowers.

6. When you are done admiring your work, remove the marshmallows and lightning, flip over the bowl. Add ice cream, top with the crushed graham crackers, sprinkles, and marshmallows, and eat.
HAPPY SHAVUOT!
My thanks to my son Yair Lev for taking the final, beautiful photos.
