Noach

These are the stories of Noah.  Noah was consistently a righteous man in his generation, who walked with G-d.   Eile toldot Noach.  Noach ish Tzadik tamid haya bedorotav et ha-elokim hithalech noach.

Torah Thoughts

In Parashat Noach, G-d determines that Man had become too wicked to save. He ordered Noach to build an ark, to save enough animals and humanity to repopulate.

After destroying all life through the flood, G-d promised never to do it again. The rainbow in the sky serves as a sign of this covenant.

Though often overshadowed by the story of Noah, this parsha also includes the story of the Tower of Babel. Here, the people wanted to reach the heavens, thinking themselves equal to G-d. In order to confuse them, G-d caused them to speak many languages and not understand each other.
