Deuteronomy / Devarim 22:10 | Do not plow with an ox and a donkey together. | לֹא־תַחֲרֹשׁ בְּשׁוֹר־וּבַחֲמֹר יַחְדָּו׃ |
Normally we do not depict what NOT to do… with this snack I am making an exception. If you believe it will teach the wrong lesson, HAVE YOUR KIDS PICK MATCHING ANIMAL CRACKERS and point it out deliberately.
Ingredients as Shown:
- 3 slices Banana OR 2 large marshmallows
- 1 bear-shaped animal cracker
- 2 other animal crackers (preferably a donkey and an ox, but use what you have, OR use matching crackers and POINT IT OUT)
- 3 tiny pretzel stick
- 1 Pretzel, large or small
- (if using marshmallows: powdered sugar to keep from sticking (see here)
Tools:
- None (if the banana is already sliced) (1 pair scissors if using marshmallows)
Instructions:
- Place banana slices as shown.
2. Add bear-shaped animal cracker as a “person”, and two more animal crackers as a “donkey” and “ox,” or, alternatively, choose two animals that match, and make a point of doing so.
3. Lay a pretzel stick at the foot of the “person.”
4. Place a “yoke” on the plowing “animals.”
5. Add the final touch! The controls (or whatever you call what the person holds to control plowing animals (straps?) can go IN or ON TOP of the pretzel.
